"I was fired from my job in July 2007, due to absences related to severe stomach problems.  These problems started in approximately November 2006, with repeated episodes of severe nausea, diarrhea, cold sweats and I would have terrible muscle cramps, which would leave me sore for days afterwards. I went to Dr. After Hours who gave me strong antibiotics for "parasites." When the symptoms returned within a few weeks, I returned and was told that I needed a longer, stronger dose of antibiotics.  This was followed by visits to my primary care and a battery of tests were ran.  At no time was I given any real diagnosis or effective treatment for this ongoing problem. The episodes would last 1-3 days as frequent as 1-2 times per week to every few weeks. 

At an ER visit in December 2007, an ultrasound was performed and I was diagnosed as having gallstones as the source of my problem.  The doctor stuck to this diagnosis, despite the fact that my symptoms were extremely atypical of gallstones. Subsequently, I was scheduled and received a gallbladder removal in December 2007.  In less than a month my symptoms recurred and the surgeon who had done the surgery said that the bile duct was not routinely removed during surgery and I probably had a stone stuck in the duct.  I was scheduled for another procedure in January 2008 where they repaired the scar tissue which he said was caused by the previous passage of a stone.

Three weeks later I was vommitting with severe diarrhea, cramps and sweats.  I vowed I was not returning to the ER, the surgeon or my primary care, all of which had accrued a cost by this time nearing $40,000.

My mom, who had been seeing Dr. Hagene recommended me to see him.  In March 2008, Dr. Hagene spent an extensive amount of time with me at our first visit.  Dr. Hagene recommended a 24 hour urine screen to determine what was happening in my digestive system.  The screen's findings comfirmed Dr. Hagene's suspicion that my system was not digesting foods properly.

Dr. Hagene gave me several dietary recommendations along with enzymes and digestive aids.  Within the first week, my general malaise and weakness lessened.  After two weeks, I was feeling well for the first time in more than a year.  To this date, I have not had even ONE recurrence of the symptoms which were making me miserable for so long.  I used to take antacids constantly, but I no longer need to take antacids as I don't have indigestion at all anymore.

I was dying-my body was telling me in no uncertain terms.  I have absolutely no doubt that Dr. Hagene saved my life.
